Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to select the most profitable ones every instance.

After the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to double their wins, in which instance another round is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
