Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The regulations are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the gambler has selected which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning gamblers are able to choose the most beneficial ones each and every instance.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the player a chance to double their winnings, in which case a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
