Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be gambled on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through a web account. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the greatest mixture of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has selected which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each instance.

After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the player a chance to increase their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
